Why

ASEAN has consolidated its position as one of the world’s most attractive destinations for foreign direct investment, underpinned by sustained investor confidence, profitable operations, and strong reinvestment by foreign affiliates. The region has remained the leading recipient of FDI among developing economies for four consecutive years, demonstrating resilience amid heightened global uncertainty. According to the ASEAN Investment Report 2025, ASEAN’s FDI inflows rose by 8 per cent to approximately US$226 billion in 2024, even as global flows declined by about 11 per cent, underscoring the region’s enduring competitive strengths and its central role in regional and global investment networks.
