Background & Rationale

Under the Philippines' 2026 ASEAN Chairmanship and its theme "Navigating Our Future, Together," ASEAN is prioritizing collective action to build a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable regional economy. The ASEAN Investment Forum (AIF) serves as a high-level platform to mobilize investment in support of ASEAN's shared development agenda.

As one of the key outputs under the Philippines' priority economic deliverable — "Greener Future: Implementation of the Regional Investment Promotion Action Plan (RIPAP) 2025–2030" — the AIF advances the Chairmanship's focus on sustainability-driven growth and regional cooperation, highlighting opportunities that support RIPAP's implementation and reinforce ASEAN's commitment to climate-aligned, innovation-led development.

Building on RIPAP 2025–2030, the 2026 AIF showcases investor-ready opportunities that advance the region's energy transition, strengthen regional value chains, and attract private capital at scale.

As ASEAN's flagship platform for promoting the region as a unified investment destination, the AIF plays a central role in attracting sustainable, high-impact foreign direct investment — bringing together policymakers, investors, industry leaders, and development partners to present concrete opportunities and strengthen regional cooperation.

Speakers will explore the priority sectors driving ASEAN’s green transition — from renewable energy and critical minerals to sustainable fuels — and discuss the policy levers, incentive frameworks, and cross-border partnerships that are making the region increasingly attractive to global investors. Fireside Chat: Sovereign Wealth Funds as Strategic Partners in ASEAN’s Green Transition


This session brings together leading sovereign wealth funds to explore their evolving role as long-term strategic investors in ASEAN’s growth story. As providers of patient capital at scale, SWFs are uniquely positioned to support the region’s energy transition, infrastructure build-out, and industrial transformation.

Speakers will share how sovereign investors assess opportunities across ASEAN, including what drives capital allocation decisions, risk considerations, and preferred partnership models. The discussion will also highlight how governments and project sponsors can better align with SWF priorities to unlock larger, more sustained investment flows into green and strategic sectors.

This session will explore renewable energy opportunities across ASEAN, with a focus on large-scale solar, onshore and offshore wind, and battery energy storage.

Sector Session 2 – Smart Grid Manufacturing: Strengthening Supply Chains for Smart Energy Systems

This session will explore the growing role of smart grid manufacturing in supporting ASEAN’s energy transition. Discussions will focus on the production and deployment of advanced grid technologies, including digital equipment, smart meters, grid automation systems, and energy management solutions. Speakers will examine opportunities to strengthen regional supply chains, enhance local manufacturing capabilities, and attract investment into high-value clean energy industries while supporting a more efficient, resilient, and modern power system.

This session will highlight ASEAN’s strategic role in the global critical minerals value chain, focusing on minerals essential for batteries, renewable energy technologies, and electric mobility. Discussions will cover responsible sourcing, downstream value‑addition, industrial partnerships, and investment frameworks that ensure sustainable and resilient supply chains for the energy transition.

These breakout sessions will feature targeted pitches of investment‑ready projects from ASEAN Member States and private developers. The format is designed to facilitate direct engagement, clarify project requirements, and accelerate matchmaking between project sponsors and prospective investors.
