ASEAN Launches Investment Report 2017 and ASEAN at 50: A Historic Milestone for FDI and MNEs in ASEAN

MANILA, 13 November 2017- The ASEAN Secretariat and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) jointly launched the “ASEAN Investment Report 2017: Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Zones in ASEAN” during the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2017, held alongside the 31^st ASEAN Summit.  The ASEAN Secretariat also launched a Special Report on “ASEAN at 50: A Historic Milestone for FDI and MNEs in ASEAN” on the same occasion.

 

“ASEAN at 50: A Historic Milestone for FDI and MNEs in ASEAN” highlights the astounding progress of ASEAN in attracting FDI over the past 50 years of ASEAN, from one among many developing regions seeking the attention of international investors to a region of choice for many Multi-National Enterprises (MNEs).  This Report traces the contours of this transformation of the region: from a poor region with little FDI, trading primarily in commodities to one ready to embrace the digital age.
